Hawassa, December 17, 2011 (Hawassa) - Construction of fish farms underway in Hawassa and Arbaminch towns of South Ethiopia Peoples State with an outlay of over 4.8 million Birr, the State's Agriculture Bureau said.
Bureau Communication Affairs Process Owner, Birhanu Tofu told ENA that both projects could produce over 700,000 young fish a year.
He said the construction of the Hawassa’s farm is expected to be completed in this Ethiopian budget year. Procurement is underway for the farm with 1.5 million Birr.
The farms would restore the depleted fish potentials of the areas.

Addis Ababa, December 18, 2011 (Addis Ababa) - The 265-km Addis Ababa-Modjo-Hawassa Road is being repaired with nearly 170 million Birr, the Ethiopian Roads Authority said.
Communication Director with the Authority, Samson Wondimu said the road constructed ten years before was damaged due to heavy traffic.
Samson said the Authority has set plan to undertake heavy maintenance on 5-km alleys in Modjo Town with seven million Birr in the current Ethiopian budget year.
The government will cover the cost for the maintenance of the road, he said.
