The Ethiopia’s Dictator PM’s Bribe of his Sidama Cadres is Unionists’ Futile Ploy to Prove the Failure of Federalism in Ethiopia!

I. A Defining Moment that Shattered Unionists' Ambition in Ethiopia

The Ethiopia’s then hopeful PM who suddenly became inhumane dictator before completing his 10th month in office has called for a meeting of the then southern nations and nationalities SNNRS’s cadres to inject them with his delusional unionist venom. The PM planned to summon them to Finfinnee (Addis Ababa) on July 19, 2018. The Sidama nation has made a defining history before joining the meeting by making decisive decision. Cognizant of the maliciousness of his intents during the upcoming meeting, the Sidama Zone council motivated by Sidama national popular urge to reignite the Sidama’s quest for national regional State has made urgent call for an extra-ordinary meeting of its council. The Sidama zone’s urgent council meeting summoned and a unanimous decision was made for the Sidama to be a national regional state on 18 July 2018.

The indicated quest of the nation was in the top priority for the Sidama opposition political figures both within the country and in diaspora since EPRDF came to power. This has been intensified in particular since late 1995 although EPRDF has stifled the Sidama’s quest for 27 years. EPRDF’s barbaric regime in which the current players were part of has massacred the Sidama civilians who have raised these question, for instance during May 24, 2002 Sidama Loqqee massacre where over 69 civilians were confirmed dead and over 200 wounded under the leadership of late PM Meles Zenawi and the former inapt PM Hailemariam Desalegn.

Therefore, the Sidama’s pre-July 19, 2018 PM meeting move was an historic and timely calculation that has paved a means for the Sidama nation to come together and fight in unison for its rightful rights to be actualised. This decision has been subsequently submitted to SEPDM as per the constitutional prerogatives of the country. However, the SEPDM has been ordered by the PM and his unionist allies to remain docile instead erroneously propagating the future of the SNNPRS will be determined after the studies of experts were finalised on how to rearrange amorphous prison house of over 52 nations and peoples of the south in glaring violation of the constitutional rights of these imprisoned nations and peoples.

II. The Unity Of The Subjugated Peoples Always Wins!

As the Sidama nation has been demanding these rights to be honoured for considerable periods of time; it did grab the new opportunity that came with the political change in Ethiopia resulted from the Oromo led revolution that has costed the lives of over 5,800 Oromo civilians in addition to thousands of other nations’ civilians who have sacrificed their lives fighting for the same cause since between 2015 and early 2018. Therefore, when the opportunity arises, the Sidama people of all walks of life both within Ethiopia and diaspora united their efforts to make the Sidama’s national quest an international agenda. International Crisis Group (ICG) has advised the Ethiopian government that if the Sidama nation is denied of its rights; the situation becomes destabilising factor for an already fragile region; therefore advised the government to be accommodating and accepting the reality on the ground.

Moreover, the Oromo’s prominent political figures such as Obbo Jawar Mohammed, Obbo Baqala Garba, the OLF, OFC, leadership and various federalist forces but unionists have officially supported the Sidama cause and demanded Abiy’s dictatorial regime to deliver the constitutional quest of the Sidama nation. Abiy’s regime however has continually denied the Sidama’s quest and officially denounced the Sidama nation in his lifeless- parliament that the Sidama is needlessly wasting time for the quest that never happens until the nation unwillingly snatches from his and his Neftegna advisers’ hands.

The Sidama nation unanimously demanded the regime to honour the constitutional quests in civilised manner on various occasion including:-

1. On February 21, 2019 peaceful demonstration attended by over a million Sidama demanding their rights to be honoured.

2. Between March 13 and 15, 2019- three days stay in call to show the government the nation never returns unless its rights are respected.

3. An historic only Sidama women and girls coordinated and attended peaceful demonstration named after the ancient Sidama queen ‘Furra’ as ‘Gaado Furra’ has been attended by a million demanding the same rights on April 09, 2019.

During these all peaceful demonstrations the Ethiopia’s PM and his unionist supporters continued with their mocking of the Sidama nation and its politicians who have supported the Sidama cause.

III. Sidama’s Decision to Take Its Affairs into Its Hands and the Responses of Aby’s Repressive Regime

After failing to receive positive response, the Sidama nation has unanimously decided to take its rights to its hand albeit fully exhausting all constitutional procedures to unilaterally declare its own national state. Therefore, the nation has decided to meet in its cultural meeting place known as Gudumaale in the Sidama capital Hawassa on July 17, 2019 on the eve of the planned declaration date on 18 July 2019. This was the Sidama consultative meeting in Gudumaale where the nation unanimously agreed their decision is constitutional therefore they are not going back.

Meanwhile, Abiy’s unionist regime was beating war drum claiming the Sidama was preparing to attack non-Sidama people living in Sidama land. Therefore, the regime has prepared and scattered throughout Sidama’s target areas- its army and agents to destroy the properties of non-Sidama Ethiopians living in Sidama land to put the blame on Sidama Ejjeetto as part of Sidama defaming project. This has been the case during the June 2018 Sidama Fichchee (New Year) incident where over 67 Sidama people were killed by Abiy’s agents to put the blame on Sidama nation and its innocent Ejjeetto (Youth). In the later circumstance Abiy’s regime has accumulated dozens of battalions of national army and security personnel who were kept on a standby to live-shoot and kill peaceful Sidama, the nation only peacefully demanded its constitutional rights to be honoured.

As planned, the Sidama started flocking to its Gudumaale on the early hours of 18 July 2019 to be met with live bullets of Abiy’s Sidama terrorising army and security personnel. Over 174 Sidama civilians were instantly massacred on the morning hours of July 18, 2019 in addition to over 5000 Sidama intellectuals who were mass incarcerated and the entire nation was fully terrorised by the regime and its unionist bloc.

Besides, the Sidama nation did not give in and give up. Rather the nation and its then political leadership led by Kaala Million Mathewos then south’s regional president, kaala Kare Chawicha then Sidama Zone president and kaala Sukare Shudaa- then Sidama capital (Hawassa) mayor has cemented its unity and peacefully but heroically pushed forward. Moreover, it has also become an international agenda where the global community denounced dictator Abiy regime’s heavy handed handling of the situation and urging it to respect the Sidama’s demand. This coupled with unflinching unity of the Sidama nation; the regime gave in to hold referendum on November 20, 2019.

IV. Unionist PM’s Plot to Undo the Sidama’s Gain by Installing Criminal Puppets

The regime has plotted to undo the Sidama’s hard earned victory by creating inapt region led by immoral criminals whom he and his federal unionist cadres order what to do with the affairs of over 6 million Sidama. The regime has meticulously recruited and prepared the Sidama’s worst and corrupt quislings to be installed as its own puppets who are capable of stopping the Sidama nation from moving forward with tis national aspiration; when the Sidama nation becomes a national state. Best fits were found who were given the entire Sidama budget (see bank transaction details- in the picture) to give to those who can centrally make decisions as part of bribe so that they can be installed in SNRS.

These corrupt criminals include Desta Ledama (current region’s president), Alemayehu Timotewos (head, region’s security affairs) and the other few cadres were installed with the order of the PM to work with and for the federal government not for the nation. These are the ones currently meddling with the Sidama affairs with their blood stained hands and immoral political practices as they implement the plots of immoral PM killing his own citizens forging alliance with the foreign countries.

V. The Sidama’s Future within the Complicated Ethiopian Empire

Since the unionist regime invaded Tigray forging alliance with three foreign countries, the Oromo’s ongoing war for the last 2 and half years, the current war declared on Benshangul Gumuz people; we feel deeply disturbed. The empire’s future is becoming so complicated that the fragile situation is intensifying. This coupled with the looming war with Sudan, Ethiopia is on a verge of destruction unless the current reckless PM and his short-sighted unionists stop their reckless actions; and call for an urgent and unconditional all-inclusive transitional arrangement after immediately stopping war in Tigray, Oromia and Benshangul by freeing all political prisoners in the country. We also denounce the ongoing cold blooded assassinations of Tigray’s elected politicians who were in better position than their killers.

Finally, we urge the Sidama nation to stop their alliance with the Sidama’s PPE cadres working for and with the Neftegna- fighting to reinstall slavery in the empire. We urge the Sidama nation to stand by the federalist forces aspiring for a common good of all stakeholders. The Sidama’s corrupt cadres, doing nothing for the nation whose names are appearing here must resign with immediate effect to allow the true sons and daughters of the nation to lead their nation. We also urge the Sidama nation to ensure that it never sends its sons and daughters for Abiy and unionists war to the borders of Sudan and Ethiopia instead demanding the regime to declare the names of thousands of Sidama soldiers who were killed in Tigray’s illegal war but to date hidden. Furthermore, the Sidama nation must demand its state officials to denounce the war declared on Tigray, Oromia and Benshangul peoples that is causing incalculable human and material damage by urging it to unconditionally stop the war.
