Though the 37 year-old former St. George, Sebeta Ketema and Ethiopia Medin playmaker had been far from Football for the past two seasons, Hawassa gave him a two months trial period in which he impressed the management and handed him a one year contract worth 500,000 Birr. Famous for his inch perfect long passes and vision both at St. George and Ethiopian national team, Mulualem’s return to premier league football took many by surprise taking into consideration his age and 21 years in league football. “When it comes to creative football I am sure he could perform by far better than the current active players and definitely to give an extra fire power to Hawassa. Cap in hand for Wubetu Abate’s decision” remarked a former player. “It doesn’t show Mulualem’s extraordinary talent but rather a classic showcase about the shocking decline of Ethiopian Football. Mulualem could better orchestrate the midfield than any other playmaker in the premier league and that is the whole story of our football.” he added.

The veteran striker Mohammed Naser’s move to his 8th club including Sudan Alshendi, also called for a big surprise for many who had followed his carrier. The former national team target man Mohammed kicked-off his colorful carrier in Jimma AbaJifar then played for Mekelakya, Ethio-Electric, St. George, Adama Ketema, Nyala, Ethiopia Bunna and Ethiopia Medin before his second spell with Jimma AbaJifar last season. Mohammed is said to give head coach Mentesnot Getu additional option from his strike force that comprised of Nigerian Philip Dawzi and Robert Sentego of Uganda.
