Abstract

This review article considers two important issues: part one briefly discusses some preliminaryissues such as reviewing of lack of comprehensive critical scholarly studies on Sidama nation,the mainstream position of Ethiopian historiography in relation to the politically marginalizedsocieties such as Sidama, and efforts and pitfalls of foreign scholarship on the Sidama people.The paradigm shift from the paucity of information to the growing body of literatureparticularly from indigenous scholars on Sidama is also briefly dealt with. The second sectionof this piece considers the main theme of the present task-review of the book at hand. Finally,the paper sums up the main theme and provides a brief conclusion on the reviewed material.
