Colorado State University’s(CSU) delegates
A team of 7 delegates from Colorado State University’s(CSU)Agricultural Science College have convened here at Hawassa University’s (HwU) Agricultural College on 01/10 /2012 .According to Dr.Yibra, DeanHwU’s College of Agriculture, his College has started collaboration with CSUon small projects and now the aim of the delegates visit is to scale up this collaboration.
He noted that the new collaboration framework mainly focuses on teaching learning, capacity building, agricultural extension and research. He added,they will have five days stay in his College and in their stay,introduction between schools and departments of the two sister colleges will be held;strategies will be developed on how and which area to work together to contribute to the development of Ethiopia ,and finally action plan/roadmap will be prepared. Then,in accordance with the action plan big projects will be designed and funds will be sought for staff capacity building. It is also hoped to do problem solving researches.Following the CSU way of agricultural extension, Dr. Yibrah added, “we do our level best to the betterment of the college and thecountry at large”.The delegates will also visit the different campuses of HwU.
Professor Jessica Davis, leader of the delegates confirming Dr. Yibra’s statement said that the meeting being conducted is important to identify what both universities have in common.In their few days meeting, theyidentify prioritiesand begin developing action plans to accomplish the most important ones.
She also said that there will be a lot of activities to be done that show the commitment level of their University to a full scalecollaboration. Following this meeting that focuses on College of Agriculture, there will be another meeting that focuses on College of Natural Resources in February 2013. The President of the CSU is also expected to hold a working visit to Hawassa University in November 2012.
The delegates are expected to have 10 -11 days stay in Ethiopia.
