Million Mathewos Korsissa Should Take No Part in Cadres Terrorizing Sidama Nation!
Million Mathewos stands out from the Sidama people for one unambiguous reason. He is the son of the national hero 'Mathewos Korsissa' who unwaveringly stood his grounds and said 'no' to the injustices imposed on the Sidama people and other subjugated nations by the then regime. Mathewos Korsissa staunchly believed that the Sidama nation must manage its own affairs, including its economy. During his era, as today; the central government authorities with their regional cadres expropriate the resources of the Sidama people, whilst they languish under abject poverty. Mr Korsissa paid the ultimate sacrifice for the said noble Sidama nation's cause: - (Link).
Breaching such unshakable trust and confidence the Sidama nation placed on him, his son Million Mathewos Korsissa (the current Sidama Zone President) is unfortunately failing to assert his father's historical significance, betraying the ultimate and precious sacrifice his father made for the noble cause of Sidama nation, by conspiring, ordering and implementing the polices of subjugation and enslavement, torturing, imprisoning and brutalizing Sidama civilians for claiming their constitutional rights. Presently, Million has lost insight into what is going on, moral direction and lacks the guts in such a position to speak that truth for which his late father paid the ultimate sacrifice. Unlike those other immoral cadres who entertain the diabolical and unconstitutional policies in Sidama land; Million Mathewos, as long as he continues on such a course, will be recorded as one of the biggest failures of Sidama history. Being the son of such a noble Sidama personality who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the Sidama nation, his failure, should he not change, shows his total lack of morality, integrity and dignity. In stark contrast, his father's sacrifice reverberates for the present and future Sidama generations to come.
Moreover, one is appalled at hearing his unbalanced and less than insightful remarks on VOA's Amharic service which was aired on 19th of September 2012 about the ongoing Sidama nation's demand for regional self administration and the nations' civilians' unlawful detention for claiming these rights; (Link). In his interview, he tries to cover up the glaring reality of the Sidama nation's constitutional demands for regional self administration; wrongly branding Sidama civilians (whom he and his regional mentor arrested) for peacefully and non-violently claiming these rights, as criminals. Invalidating his remarks, however, is the fact that when roughly half a million Sidama spectators gathered in their capital Hawassa to celebrate their New Year Fichche on the 15th of July 2012, not a single incident was reported to occur, demonstrating the Sidama nation's astonishing civility, peacefulness and nonviolence, that sets an example for every global nonviolent movement: (Link).
In the Sidama people's cultural context, there is no place in society for such a character; possessing no value in Sidama culture, an outcast who, unless he change, will remain ostracized for several decades to come. The Sidama nation makes crystal clear, however, that Mathewos Korsissa's ultimate sacrifice isn't in vain. There are millions of the next generation of Sidamas who heroically hold high the banner of such a noble Sidama personality. And yet, if Million Mathewos Korsissa were to resign and step aside from his course and join the movement of the Sidama nation for their constitutional rights, a better opinion would immediately be formed. As long as he stays on his course, his father's spirit haunts him throughout his life; as long as he stays on his course, the Sidama nation will not forget his part in depersonalizing and dehumanizing the Sidama nation for as many generations as they will remember his father! And yet, whatever difficulties are put in front of the Sidama nation, will, in due time, be overturned, and success achieved.
