One of the most significant moves of the Ethiopian winter transfer window is the departure of Isreal Eshetu from Mekelakeya to Hawassa City.

The striker's move highlights the ongoing trades as some teams aim to strengthen and fill the gaps in their squads.

The National Football Federation revealed so far that 17 transfers have been done by the time Eshetu's deal was confirmed.

Eshetu was back to his hometown team Hawassa Kenema, where it all began for him.

He is the second signing for Lakers in this transfer window after Abdissa Jemal joined them from Adama City.

Wubetu Abate's Fasil Kenema have also made two signings. The first one is the left winger Afkrot Solomon from Hambericho Durame. The other signing is defender Habib Mohammed from Adama City.

Gebremedhin Haile's Ethiopian Insurance were the first team to sign several players, including Hayder Sherefa from Adama City, Tekelamriam Shanko from Mekelakeya, Ananiya Getachew from Jimma Aba Jifar and Million Solomon from Hawassa City.

Bahir Dar City have also signed three players, Tsegaye Abera from Sidama Coffee, Mujib Kassim from Hawassa City and Wodnwossen Abebeb.

Shashmene City have also made three signings including Sintayehu Mengistu from Wolayita Dicha, Mulugeta Woldegiorgis and Gezahegn Desalegn from Ethiopia Coffee.
