አዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርስቲ ከስፔን ብሔራዊ የምርምር ምክር ቤት /CSIC/ጋር በመሆን ውኃ ውስጥ ያለውን የፍሎራይድ ኬሚካል ዚዮላይት በተሰኘ ንጥረ ነገር ማጣራት የሚያስችል አዲስ ቴክኖሎጂ ማግኘቱን አስታወቀ። የቴክኖሎጂ ግኝቱም ከአዕምሯዊ ንብረት ጽህፈት ቤት ለአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርስቲ የባለቤትነት መብት ተሰጥቶታል። በዩኒቨርስቲው የዩኒቨርስቲ-ኢንዱስትሪ ትስስርና የቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር ዳይሬክተር ዶክተር መንገሻ ማሞ እንዳሉት፥ የቴክኖሎጂ ግኝቱ ዩኒቨርስቲው የሚያደርገው ችግር ፈቺ የምርምር ሥራ አካል ነው። በኢትዮጵያ ስምጥ ሸለቆ ክፍል የሚገኘው የከርሰ ምድር ውኃ ከፍተኛ መጠን የፍሎራይድ ኬሚካል እንዳለው የገለጹት ዶክተር መንገሻ፥ ይኸው ኬሚካል በሰው ጥርስና አጥንት ላይ ጉዳት እንደሚያደርስ ገልጸዋል። ፍሎራይድ በተፈጥሯዊ ስነ-ምህዳር ከሚመነጩ ኬሚካሎች አንዱ ሲሆን ከመጠን ያለፈ ፍሎራይድ በመጠጥ ውኃ አማካኝነት ሲወሰድ በሰዎች ጤንነት ላይ በተለይም በጥርስና አጥንት ላይ ከፍተኛ ጉዳት እንደሚያስከትልም ነው  ዳይሬክተሩ  ያስረዱት። የዓለም የጤና ድርጅት የጥርስ ፍሎሮሲስን ለመቀነስ እንደ አካባቢው የሙቀት መጠን ቢለያይም በአንድ ሊትር ውኃ የፍሎራይድ መጠን ከ 0 ነጥብ 5 እስከ 1 ነጥብ 5 መብለጥ እንደሌለበት ይመክራል። የቴክኖሎጂ ግኝቱ ተግባር ላይ ሲውል በአገሪቱ የስምጥ ሸለቆ አካባቢ የሚኖሩ 14 ሚሊዮን ነዋሪዎች ከፍሎራይድ ነፃ የሆነ ንጹህ የመጠጥ ውኃ እንዲያገኙ የሚያስችል ነው ብለዋል። ፍሎራይድን ለማጣራት የሚውለው ዚዮላይት የተሰኘው ንጥረ ነገር በአገር ውስጥ ከሚገኙ አለቶች በስፋት ማግኘት የሚቻል በመሆኑ በአነስተኛ ወጪ ቴክኖሎጂውን በመጠቀም የውኃ ማጣራቱ ሂደት ዘላቂነት ማረጋገጥ እንደሚቻል አመልክተዋል። በተያያዘ ከዩኒ

A MOBILE app developed in Scotland has the potential to help millions of farmers in East Africa. The VetAfrica app will allow vets, farmers and others in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania diagnose diseases quickly and identify effective drugs. The app was developed by Glasgow-based technology company Cojengo, in partnership with software giant Microsoft and its 4Afrika initiative. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia  –  Export of oilseeds  has become the biggest foreign exchange earner for  Ethiopia overtaking  coffee , the country’s number one export item for decades. A ten-month performance report obtained from the Ministry of Trade (MoT) reveals that Ethiopia obtained just under 585 million USD from export of oilseeds, knocking coffee off its perch for the first time. In contrast, coffee generated 489.28 million USD during the same period. The country exported over 404 thousand tons of oilseeds during the first ten months of the budget year, a rise of over 10 per cent compared to the same period last year. The revenue obtained also showed a growth of 52 per cent compared to the same period last year. The achievement is over 95 per cent of the revenue the ministry projected to obtain during the period. However, the picture is rather gloomy for coffee. The ministry projected to obtain 822.08 million USD during the first ten months but achieved about 60 per cent o
