Ethio-American School Hawassa-Yirgalem በሃዋሳ የትምህርት ጥራትን ለማስጠበቅ በተደረገው ጥረት ለውጥ እየመጣ ነው ሀዋሳ መጋቢት 1/2006 በሃዋሳ ከተማ አስተዳደር የትምህርት ጥራትን ለማስጠበቅና መጠነ ማቋረጥ ለመቀነስ  በተደረገው ጥረት  አበረታች ውጤት እየተመዘገበ መሆኑን የከተማው አስተዳደር ትምህርት መምሪያ ገለጸ፡፡ በመምሪያው የትምህርት ጥራት ማረጋገጫ ዋና የስራ ሂደት አስተባባሪ አቶ ገዛኸኝ ደገፉ እንደገለጹት የትምህርት ጥራት ፓኬጁን ተግባራዊ ለማድረግ ከወላጆች ቦርድ፣ ከመምህራንና ተማሪዎች ጋር ተቀናጅተው እየሰሩ ናቸው፡፡ በዚህም በርካታ ትምህርት ቤቶች የትምህርት ጥራት ማሻሻያ ፕሮግራሞች በመጀመራቸው የተማሪዎች ውጤት በየአመቱ ከፍተኛ ለውጥ እያመጣ ነው፡፡ ባለፈው አመት የ8ኛ ክፍል ክልላዊ ፈተና ከወሰዱ 8ሺህ 643 ተማሪዎች መካከል 72 በመቶ ወደ ቀጠዩ ደረጃ መሸጋገራቸውንና ይህም ከቀዳሚው አመት ጋር ሲነፃፀር 8 በመቶ ብልጫ አለው፡፡ በተመሳሳይ የ10ኛ ክፍል ብሄራዊ ፈተና ከተቀበሉ 5ሺህ 986 ተማሪዎች ከ83 በመቶ በላይ የማለፊያ ነጥብ ማምጣታቸውን ጠቁመው  በየአመቱም እድገት ማሳየቱን አስተባባሪው ተናግረዋል፡፡ ትምህርታቸውን ጀምረው የሚያቋርጡ ተማሪዎች ቁጥር ከአምስት በመቶ በታች ዝቅ ማድረግ ተችሏል፡፡ በተለይ የወላጆች ቦርድ፣ መምህራንና የትምህርት ቤት ኮሚቴዎች በየወቅቱ በትምህርት ጥራት ፓኬጅ ዙሪያና በሚከሰቱ ችግሮች  እንዲሁም መፍትሄዎቻቸው ላይ በመወያየት ተቀናጅተው እየሰሩ መሆናቸውን ተመልክቷል፡፡ እንዲሁም ወላጆች ልጆቻቸውን ወደ ትምህርት ቤት እንዲልኩ ባለድርሻ አካላት ባደረጉት የጋራ ጥረትም ከ115 ሺህ በላይ የሚሆኑ ተማሪዎች ትምህርት ቤት እንዲገቡ ማድረግ ተችሏል፡፡

Optometrist Alex Whitter and lab technician Mike Horsefield, who both work in the Ellesmere Port Specsavers store, travelled to the Horn of Africa where they worked to give vital aid to people without access to eyecare. They visited villages near the city of Hawassa in the Great Rift Valley to give much-needed eye tests to more than 1,000 people and glasses to those who needed them. Working with Vision Aid Overseas, the pair also trained optometry students at Hawassa University.
