In the 1980s, the Ethiopian Tourism Commission published several books. The text that follows is from one of those books, titled  Ethiopians and The Houses They Live In , written and illustrated by Jill Last. The book is broken up into various regions of Ethiopia. I've copied the section on Sidamo, as that is where most children from Sele Enat are from. ___________________________________________________ Sidamo Region, stretching from Lake Abaya to Lake Awassa, is the deep south and the name instantly conjures up a picture of green coffee-growing country. ፎቶ ከፌስቡክ This is a traditional split bamboo plaited roundhouse by the Sidama people of Ethiopia. The dome, with its pointy top, is designed to shed heavy rainfall where a circular dome would have a flat region prone to leaks. Bamboo once played an important role in the rural economies of East Africa but indiscriminate clearing of natural bamboo forests have resulted in losing natural resources and many of the traditional building skills. አዋሳ ሐምሌ 04/2005 በግብርና የህብረት ስራ ልማት ዘርፍ መሰረታዊ ለውጥ ለማምጣት መንግስት በሰጠው ትኩረት ሀገር አቀፍ ስተራቴጂ ተነድፎ ተግባራዊ እየተደረገ መሆኑን የፌዴራል ህብረት ስራ ኤጀንሲ ገለፀ፡፡ በሀዋሳ ከተማ ሰሞኑን በተከበረው ሀገር አቀፍ የህብረት ስራ ቀን በዓል ላይ የኤጀንሲው የህዝብ ግንኙነት ዳይሬክተር አቶ ይግዛው ዳኘው እንደገለጹት ግብርና ለኢትዮጵያ እድገት መሰረት፣ ለውጪ ምንዛሬና የአብዛኛው መተዳደሪያ ገቢ ምንጭ መሰረት በመሆኑ ትኩረት ተሰጥቷል፡፡ ስለሆነም ስትራቴጂው የህብረት ስራ ማህበራት ከተለምዶ አሰራር ተላቀው በአደረጃጀት፣ በአሰራር ስርአታቸውና በሰው ሀይላቸው ይበልጥ ጎልበተው የአርሶና አርበቶአደሩን ምርትና ገበያ ማሻሻል ነው ብለዋል፡፡ የግብርና ህብረት ስራ ዘርፍ ልማት ስትራቴጂ በግብርና ትራንስፎርሜሽን ካውንስል ባለፈው አመት ጸድቆ በ2005 በጀት አመት መተግበር ጀምሯል ብለዋል፡፡ ስትራቴጂው ቅድሚያ መተግበር የጀመረው በትግራይ ፣ በኦሮሚያ፣ በደቡብና በአማራ ብሄራዊ ክልሎች የግብርና ዕድገት ፕሮግራም ተግባራዊ ባደረጉ የተመረጡ ወረዳዎች እንደሆነም ገልጸዋል፡፡ በስትራቴጂው ትግበራ የመጀመሪያው ዓመት ከተመዘገቡ ውጤቶች መካከል የህብረት ስራ ማህበራት የላቀ ዕውቅና የመስጠትና የልቀት ማዕከል የማቋቋም ስራ መጀመሩ፣በአራቱ ክልሎች ለሚገኙ ለ9 የህብረት ስራ ዩኔየኖች ከአባላቶቻቸው ምርት በማሰባሰብ ግብይት እንዲፈጽሙ ከ354 ነጥብ 6 ሚሊዮን ብር በላይ ብድር እንዲያገኙ መደረጉ እንደሚገኝበት ተናግረዋል፡፡ ከዚህም ሌላ የማህበራት ግብይት ሰንሰለት ለማሰጠር ትኩረት ተሰጥቶ እየተሰራ ነው ያሉት ዳይሬክተሩ በሰሊጥ፣ በቡና፣ በስንዴ፣ በጤፍ በገብስና በሽምብራ ግብይት የተሰማሩ የህብረት ስራ ዩኒየኖችና የህብረት ስራ ማስፋፊያ አ

Side Goodo 1. Introduction Time and again the Sidama people have rejected the use of the derogatory term “Sidamo”. The term was a deliberate fabrication by the invading Abyssinian soldiers of King Minelik as part of the campaign to humiliate, undermine and subjugate the newly conquered territories in the South of the country. This article is motivated by the outrageous statements made by Eremias Woldemikael during his email conversations with Kambata Xola of Sidama National Liberation organization (SNLO) regarding the Abyssinian occupation, subjugation and exploitation of the Sidama land.
