Sidama studies were virtually non-existent even for academic purposes. Th ere are many reasons for this. First and foremost, the emergence of enlightened nationalists and the promotion of Sidama nationalism were late and slow in comparison to other regions. Secondly, the Ethiopian historiography had no room for the promotion or development of non-Habasha cultures and peoples. መረጃዎች እንደሚያመላክቱት ዘርፉ ብዙ ጠቀሜታ እንዳለውና ከሚነገረው የቀርቀሃ ደን ከአንድ ሄክታር ከ 10 እስከ 20 ሺህ ምርት ማግኘት ይቻላል፡፡ ይሁንና ግን ጥቅሙን በስፋት ለማስተዋወቅ እየተደረገ ካለው ጥረት ወጪ በበቂ ደረጃ ጥቅም ላይ ውሏል ማለት እንደማይቻል በዘርፉ የተሰማሩ ባለሙያዎች ይገለጻል፡፡ እንደ አውሮፓውያን አቆጣጠር በ 2009 በኢትዮጵያ መንግስትና በዓለም ዓቀፍ የቀርቀሃና ራታን ኔትወርክ (Inbar) ጋር በምስራቅ አፍሪካ ያለውን እምቅ ሃብት በተለያዩ ጥቅሞች ላይ ለማዋል የተለያ ፕሮጀክቶችን ነድፎ የቀርቀሃ ቴክኖሎጂዎችን ከዓለም ዙሪያ ለማሰባሰብ በማስረጽ ላይ መሆኑን ከንቲሪ ፕሮጀክት ማናጀሩ ዶክተር ፉጀኒሂ ገልጸዋል፡፡ ፕሮጀክቱ በቻይናና ህንድ ያለውን ልምድ በአፍሪካ ማስተዋወቅ መሆኑን በማስታወስ፡፡ የዓለም አቀፉ Inbar ዋና ዳይሬክተር ዶክተር ኬሽ ሆጊንደር እንዳሉት ድርጅቱ በ 36 ሃገሮች ላይ የሚንቀሳቀስ መሆኑን ገልጸው፤ በምስራቅ አፍሪካ ያለውን  እምቅ የቀርቀሃ ዓቅም ለማስተዋወቅ  የተለያዩ ተግባራትን እያተከናወነ መሆኑን አስረድተዋል፡፡ በሃገሪቱ ማዕድንና ኢነርጂ ሚኒስተር ከጥቃቅንና አነስተኛ ልማት ኤጄንሲና ከግብርና ቢሮ ጋር እንሰራለን ይህ መሆኑ ደግሞ የተፈጥሮ ሃብትን በአግባቡ ለመጠበቅ የሚያስችል ነው ብለዋል፡፡ ዋና ዳይሬክተሩ ባፈው ሁለት ዓመታት የተከናወኑ ስራዎችን በሲዳማ ዞን ሁላ ወረዳ ተገኝተው ጐብኝተዋል፡፡ በክልሉ የማዕድንና ኢነርጂ ዋና ስራ አስኪያጅ አቶ ሃጐስ አባተ በዚሁ ጉብኝት ላይ እንዳሉት የደን ውጤቶችን አብቅቶ ለማገዶ ለመጠቀም በአማካይ እስከ 30 ዓመታት የሚፈጅ ሲሆን የሚያስከትለው መዘዝም ከፍተኛ መሆኑን ገልጸው፤ የቀርቀሃ ምርት ግን ከ 3 ዓመት ባልዘለለ ጊዜ ውስጥ ለተለያ ጥቅም የሚደርስ በመሆኑ ቴክኖ
