Cape Town Expresses Interest to Create Link with Ethiopian Cities

Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town,  Patricia de Lille (DA), expressed readiness to form sister city agreement with various cities in Ethiopia for a mutual benefit in the tourism sector. Cape Town and Hawassa have already inked sister city agreement last year. Lille told ENA that Cape Town is keen to create link and share best practices with Ethiopian sister cities to market the two countries’ natural and historical tourist destinations. “We need to engage more with each other and share best practices. As brothers and sisters of Africa, we need to work together because we can only make progress possible when we are together and not separate,” she said. የኢትዮጵያን ቡና አምራቾች በዓለም የቡና ገበያ ማስተዋወቅ የሚያስችል ውድድር በኢትዮጵያ ሊካሄድ ነው። ውድድሩ በአፍሪካ ሲካሄድ የመጀመሪያው እንደሆነም ተገልጿል። የቡና አምራቾቹን የሚያወዳድረው ዓለም አቀፍ እውቅና ያለው ዩሺማ የተሰኘ የጃፓን የተፈጨ ቡና አከፋፋይ ድርጅት ሲሆን የሲዳማ ቡና አምራቾችን ብቻ ያሳትፋል። የድርጅቱ የአቅርቦት ትስስር ማኔጅመንት ዳይሬክተር ሚስተር ቲቲሱያ ሴኪ እንደተናገሩት ኢትዮጵያ ቡና በከፍተኛ መጠን የምታመረትና እምቅ የቡና ኃብትም ያላት አገር ናት። በመሆኑም ይህ በአፍሪካ የመጀመሪያ የሆነው ውድድር ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ይደረጋል። ውድድሩ በሲዳማ ክልል በሚገኙ ቡና አምራቾች መካከል ከጥር እስከ የካቲት 2008 ዓ.ም የሚካሄድ ሲሆን ከ24 ሺህ በላይ አምራቾች ይሳተፋሉ ተብሎ ይጠበቃል። በቀጣይ ሌሎች ክልሎችን ያሳተፈ ውድድር ለማካሄድ መታቀዱንም ነው የተናገሩት ዳይሬክተሩ።   ድርጅቱ በውድድሩ ከ1ኛ እስከ 6ኛ የሚወጡ አሸናፊዎችን የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ቡና ከመደበኛው ዋጋ ከ10 እስከ 30 በመቶ በሚደርስ ጭማሪ ይገዛቸዋል ብለዋል። ጥሬው የቡና ፍሬ ወደ ጃፓን ከተላከ በኋላ ጥልቅ በሆነ የጥራት ማረጋገጫ መመዘኛ የተለያዩ ምርመራዎች እንደሚደረግለትም ገልጸዋል። አምራቾቹ በውድድሩ መሳተፋቸው ምርታማነታቸውንና ጥራታቸውን የሚሻሻል በመሆኑ የቡናቸው ዋጋ በዚያው መጠን እንደሚያድግ ተናግረዋል።    በጃፖን የኢትዮጵያ አምባሳደር አቶ ማርቆስ ተክሌ በበኩላቸው ውድድሩ አምራቾች ዘመናዊ ቴክኖሎጂ ተጠቅመው እንዲያመርቱ ግንዛቤ የሚያስጨብጥ ሥልጠናን ያካተተ ነው። ለቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር ዕድል የሚፈጥርና የቡና አግሮ ፕሮሰሲንግ ኢንዱስትሪውንም የሚያሻሽል መሆኑን ተናግረዋል። በኢትዮጵያ የጃፓን አምባሳደር ሚስተር ካዙሂ

$386m Needed for Humanitarian Response

By addisfortune.net The latest humanitarian requirement document released to public on August 19, 2015  shows that the number relief food beneficiaries has risen to 4.5 million; an increase by 55 pc and 36.3 pc from figures registered in January 2015, and the annual forecast of this year, respectively. The report was jointly released by the Ethiopian government and humanitarian partners. Regional distribution of the number of beneficiaries in Oromia, Somali and Amhara regional states, hit the first three ranks with 1.8 million, 1.08 million and 639,876 beneficiaries, respectively. The report also stated that funding requirements for food and non food items showed a 10.6pc increment to 386 million dollars, an increase from the figure forecasted in January, 2015. Of the total financial requirement 48pc of it is yet to be covered. In terms of financial requirements for relief divided in sectors, the requirement for relief food stands at 312 million dollars, of which 154 million
