ADDIS ABABA  (Reuters) - Ethiopia's inflation rose to 7.7 percent year-on-year in January from 7.1 percent in the previous month, the statistics office said on Friday. The Central Statistics Agency attributed the jump to higher prices of food and non-food items. Prices for such items as meat, dairy products, vegetables and fruit increased 7.1 percent last month, up from 6.5 percent in December. Non-food inflation also rose to 8.2 percent in January from 7.8 percent the previous month, mainly due to an increase in prices for clothes and khat, a narcotic leaf chewed in the Horn of Africa nation. Inflation peaked at 9.1 percent in 2014 but it has since been moving up and down.

በመጪው ምርጫ በደቡብ ክልል የሚወዳደሩ የፖለቲካ ፓርቲዎች የጋራ መድረክ የኢትዮጵያ ራዕይ ፓርቲ /ኢራፓ/ን የጋራ ምክር ቤቱ ስድስተኛ አባል አድርጎ ተቀበለ፡፡ የጋራ መድረኩ ዛሬ ባካሄደው አምስተኛ መደበኛ ጉባኤ በክልሉ የሚወዳደሩ ክልላዊ ፓርቲዎች በመሰረቱት የጋራ መድረክ ላይ እንዲሳተፍ በክልሉ ምርጫ ማስተባበሪያ ጽህፈት ቤት በኩል ቀደም ሲል ጥሪ ተደርጎለት ያልተገኘውንና ዛሬ የአባልነት ጥያቄ ያቀረበውን የኢራፓ ጉዳይና ሌሎች ሶስት አጀንዳዎች ላይ ተወያይቷል፡፡ የኢትዮጵያውያን ራዕይ ፓርቲ /ኢራፓ/ ተወካይ አቶ ሺበሺ መኮንን በግል ጉዳይ ምክንያት እስካሁን በመድረኩ ምስረታና ስብሰባ ላይ ሳይገኙ በመቆየታቸው ይቅርታ ጠይቀው የጋራ መድረኩ አባል ለመሆን ጥያቄ አቅርበዋል፡፡ የጋራ መድረኩ በቀረበው ጥያቄ ላይ በመወያየት ኢራፓ አመራሮች በማይኖሩበት ወቅት ተወካይ በመላክ በመድረኩ ምስረታና ስብሰባ ላይ መካፈል ሲችል ይህን አለማድረጉ ተገቢ አለመሆኑ ተገልጾለት ለወደፊቱ አመራሩ በማይገኝበት ወቅት በውክልና ሌላ ሰው ተካፋይ እንዲሆን ማድረግ አንዳለበት ተገልጾለት የጋራ መድረኩ አባል እንዲሆን ያቀረበው ጥያቄ በሙሉ ድምጽ ተቀባይነት አግኝቷል፡፡ ሲአን/መድረክ በሲዳማ ዞን በቡርሳና በቦርቻ ምርጫ ክልል በአባላትና ደጋፊዎቼ ላይ ጥር 22 ቀን 2007 ስብሰባ ላይ በፖሊስ ድብደባና ወከባ ደርሶባቸዋል በማለት ጉዳዩን የጋራ መድረኩ አጣርቶ የእርምት አርምጃ አንዲወስድ ባቀረበው አቤቱታ ላይም መድረኩ ውይይት አድርጓል፡፡ የሲአን/መድረክ ተወካይ በቡርሳና ቦርቻ በድርጅቱ አባላትና በደጋፊዎች ላይ ደረሰ ያለውን ድብደባና ወከባ ለጋራ መድረኩ ከማቅረቡ በፊት ችግሩ የተፈጸመው በዞን ስለሆነ በመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ባለው የጋራ ምክር ቤት በማቅረብ ጉዳዩ እንዲታይ ማ

Shady coffee plantations in  Ethiopia , where  coffee  has been grown for at least a thousand years, hold more bird species than any other coffee farms in the world, new research shows. l The research suggests that traditional cultivation practices there support better bird biodiversity than any other coffee farms in the world. In Ethiopia, coffee is traditionally grown on plantations shaded by native trees. These farms boasted more than 2.5 times as many bird species as adjacent mountain forest, according to a study slated for publication February 11 in the  journal  Biological Conservation . "That was a surprise," says study co-author  Cagan H. Sekercioglu , a biologist at the University of Utah and a National Geographic Society grantee. Further, "all 19 understory bird species we s
