መንግስት መሰረተቢስ ውንጀላ ነው በሚል ያጣጥለዋል የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት በአገሪቱ የግል ሚዲያ ላይ የሚያደርገው የተራቀቀ ጫና፣ ሚዲያዎቹ በመጪው ግንቦት ወር የሚካሄደውን ምርጫ በተመለከተ በሚሰሩት ዘገባ ሃሳብን በነጻነት የመግለጽ ምህዳሩን እያጠበበባቸው ነው ሲል ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች ገለጸ፡፡ መንግስት የግሉን ሚዲያ እንደ አንድ የታመነ የመረጃና የትንተና ምንጭ ሳይሆን እንደ ስጋት በመቁጠር የተጠና ጫና ያደርስበታል ያሉት የሂውማን ራይት ዎች የአፍሪካ ምክትል ዳይሬክተር ሌስሊ ሌፍኮው ሚዲያው በመጪው ምርጫ ቁልፍ ሚና መጫወት ቢኖርበትም፣ በአንጻሩ ግን በርካታ የአገሪቱ ጋዜጠኞች ምርጫን በተመለከተ በሚያቀርቡት ዘገባ ለእስር እንዳረጋለን የሚል ስጋት እንዳደረባቸው ገልጸዋል፡፡ መንግስት በአገሪቱ የግል ሚዲያ ላይ የሚያደርገው ጫና እየተባባሰ በመምጣቱ ባለፈው አመት ብቻ ስድስት የግል የህትመት ውጤቶች ተዘግተዋል፤ በ22 ጋዜጠኞች፣ ብሎገሮችና አሳታሚዎች ላይ የወንጀል ክስ ተመስርቶባቸዋል፤ ከ30 በላይ ጋዜጠኞችም እስራትን በመፍራት አገራቸውን ጥለው ተሰደዋል ብሏል ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች ከትናንት በስቲያ ባወጣው ሪፖርት፡፡ “ጋዜጠኝነት ወንጀል አይደለም፣ የመገናኛ ብዙሃን ነጻነት ጥሰት በኢትዮጵያ” የሚል ርዕስ ያለው  ሪፖርቱ፣ የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት ላለፉት አራት አመታት ነጻ ዘገባን የሚያቀጭጩ ተግባራትን ሲፈጽም እንደቆየ ጠቅሶ፣ በእነዚህ አመታትም ሃሳብን በነጻነት የመግለጽ መብታቸውን በመጠቀማቸው 19 ጋዜጠኞች መታሰራቸውንና 60 ያህሉም መሰደዳቸውን ገልጿል፡፡ ሂውማን ራይትስ ዎች በስደትና በአገራቸው የሚገኙ ከ70 በላይ ጋዜጠኞችን አነጋግሬ ያዘጋጀሁት ነው ባለው በዚህ ሪፖርቱ፣ በአገሪቱ አብዛኞቹ የህትመትና የኤሌክትሮኒክስ ሚዲያዎች በመንግስት ቁጥጥር ስር እንደሚገ
