A draft directive is prepared by the Ministry of Development, Housing and Construction (MUDHC) on housing registration for members of the Ethiopian Diaspora community. This housing scheme is going to be open only for the Ethiopian Diaspora. The directive stipulates different list of prices and different housing schemes from which they can own a house from 40/60 and 20/80 schemes, which currently are underway. According to the draft document, beneficiaries of the directive are the Diaspora and workers of the Ethiopian diplomatic missions. Members of these groups can register individually or can organize themselves and register under housing cooperative associations. by Harry C. Alford The idea hit me during the International Panel at our 22 nd  annual conference in Chicago July 10-12. Speaking on the panel were NBCC members from Colombia, Benin, Ghana, Suriname, Ethiopia and France. Ghana, France and Suriname have participated at previous conferences. It was Colombia’s first and they were given an NBCC board seat, taken by Juan Camilo Cabezas, for their effort in forming a strong and viable chapter headquartered in Cali, Colombia, a city of 2.5 million people – and 70 percent Black! As impressive as this map is, an argument can be made that there are more countries with over 100,000 people of African descent, such as Papua, New Guinea, Australia and, as Harry Alford points out, even China. – Map: CompareAfrique.com The Ethiopia participation comes by way of the Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This association of 35 African countries was recently formed and is headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We look forward to a pr
