HwU’s department of Informatics in collaboration with  G o o g l e  Company has started capacity building project on computer technology for teachers and students selected from governmental and non-governmental schools around Hawassa. Mr.Tesfaye Baye, lecturer at informatics department and the project coordinator noted that the main objective of the training is enhancing teachers’ and students’ computer skills at the lower level mainly at high& preparatory schools there by making them beneficiaries of modern computer technologies. In the training, that lasts for a year (2012/13 academic year), it is intended to involve more than 500 teachers and students. On top of that, it was noted Google Company has donated 10,000 US dollars to successfully run the project. On the graduation ceremony held for two days, convocation for the main campus graduate and for Agricultural and Medicine College together held on July 14 and15/2012 respectively. Dr. Yoseph Mamo president of Hawassa University noted that of the total graduates, 488 were masters’ degree holders and 83 were doctorate degree holders. He also underscored the immense progress in increasing the number and level of academic programs in the university. He said the number of academic programs which were 8 at the beginning of the establishment, now multiplied incredibly, i.e. 64 1 st  degree programs, 43 2 nd  degree programs and 4 PhD programs. Honorary guest of the occasion Mr. Shiferaw Shigute, President of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region on his part emphasized how hard the government is working in getting access of tertiary education to the majority of the people. He said the number of higher institutions which were 4 and 5 in number fifteen

የባህር ትራንስፖርትና ሎጀስቲክስ ኢንተርፕራይዝ በሚያካሂደው የመልቲ ሞዳል አሠራር ምክንያት በተፈጠረው ችግር፣ ባለፉት ሁለት ሳምንት ቡና ወደ ውጭ መላክ እንዳላስቻለ ምንጮች ገለጹ፡፡ በ2004 ዓ.ም ዓመት በቡና ንግድ ላይ የተፈጠረው ችግር በአዲሱ በጀት ዓመትም ሊደገም ይችላል የሚል ስጋት ፈጥሯል፡፡   የመልቲ ሞዳል አሠራርን ተግባራዊ ያደረገው ኢንተርፕራይዝ ወደ አገር ውስጥ በሚገቡ ምርቶች ላይ ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ ወደ ውጭ በሚላኩ ምርቶች ላይም መስተጓጎል እየተፈጠረ መሆኑን እየተናገረ ነው፡፡   በ2003 ዓ.ም. ወደ ውጭ የተላከው የቡና መጠን 197 ሺሕ ቶን ነው፡፡ በ2004 ዓ.ም. በአገሪቱ ከፍተኛ የቡና ምርት ቢኖርም ከታቀደው 270 ሺሕ ቶን ውስጥ የተላከው 170 ሺሕ ቶን ብቻ ነው፡፡   ይህ ሊሆን የቻለው ንግድ ሚኒስቴር በበጀት ዓመቱ በተለያዩ ጊዜያት የቡና ንግድን በሚመላከት ባወጣቸው መመርያዎች ምክንያት ነው ሲሉ፣ የቡና ነጋዴዎች ጣታቸውን በሚኒስቴሩ ላይ ይቀስራሉ፡፡ በዚህም የኢትዮጵያ የቡና ነጋዴዎች በውጭ ደንበኞቻቸው ዕምነት እየታጠባቸው መሆኑን እየገለጹ ነው፡፡   “ውል በገባነው መሠረት ቡና ማቅረብ ተስኖን ዓመቱን አጠናቀናል፤” ሲሉ ስማቸውን መግለጽ ያልፈለጉ የቡና ኤክስፖርተር ለሪፖርተር ገልጸዋል፡፡   የተፈጠሩት ችግሮች የኢትዮጵያ ቡና በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ በጥራቱና በጣዕሙ ቢታወቅም፣ በዋጋ ከሁሉም አገር ቡናዎች የመጨረሻ ደረጃ ላይ እንዲገኝ አድርጎታል፡፡   ችግሮቹን ከፈጠሩት መካከል ቡና በኮንቴይነር ይላክ መባሉና በኢትዮጵያ ምርት ገበያ በኩል የሚወጣው ጨረታ የፈጠረው የአላላክ ዘዴ ተጠቃሽ ናቸው፡፡ እነዚህን ችግሮች ለመፍታት የቡና ላኪዎች ማኅበርና ታዋቂ የቡና ላኪዎች ከንግድ ሚኒስቴር ጋር በ

ካለፈው ወር ጅምሮ የሲዳማ የክልል ጥያቄ በተመለከተ የተቀጣጠለውን  ህዝባዊ ንቅናቄን ለመቆጣጠር የሃዋሳን ከተማ ጨምሮ በኣንዳንድ የሲዳማ ወረዳዎች ሰፍሮ የነበረው የፊዴራል ሃይል ባለፉት ሳምንታት መውጣቱ የሚታወስ ሲሆን ለጊዜው ባልታወቀ ምክንያት በዚህ ሳምንት ውስጥ ወደ ሲዳማ  ተመልሷል። የፈዴራል ሃይሉ ወደ ሲዳማ መመለስን በተመለከተ የተለያዩ ኣስተያየቶች እየተሰጡ ሲሆን ህዝባዊ ንቅናቄው  በተለይ በወረዳዎች ተቀጣጥሎ  በመቀጠሉ ለሃይሉ መመለስ ምክንያት ሳይሆን ኣይቀርም ተብሏል። ይህ በእንዲህ እንዳለ ከዞኑ ወረዳዎች የተወጣጡ ሽማግሌዎችን ያካተተ ኣንድ የሲዳማ ልኡካን ቡድን በትናንትናው እለት ከዞኑ ኣመራር ጋር የክልል ጥያቄን በተመለከተ የተወያይ ሲሆን ስብሳባው ያለ በቂ ውጤት ተጠናቋል። የሲዳማ  ሽማግሌዎች ህገ መንግስቱ በምፈቅደው መሰረት የክልል ጥያቄ በሲዳማ ዞን ምክር ቤት ኣባለት እንዲቀርብ ጥያቄ  ያቀረቡ ሲሆን፤ በካላ ሚሊዮን ማትዎስ የተመራው የዞን ካቢኔ የሽማግሌዎቹን ጥያቄ ሳይቀበል ቀርቷል። ካላ ሚሊዮን በስብሰባው ላይ የክልል ጥያቄ ከዚህ በፊት ተነስቶ የነበረ ነገር ግን በልማት ጥያቄ የተተካ በመሆኑ መልሶ ማንሳት ኣያስፈልግ የምል ኣቋም ኣንጸባርቀዋል። በመረጧቸው እና በገዛ ልጆቻቸው ምላሽ ያልተደሰቱት ሽማግሌዎቹ የስልጣን እርከኑን ተከትለው ከላይ ካሉት ባለስልጣናት ጋር  ለመነጋገር ለሚቀጥለው ሳምንት ቀጠሮ ይዘው ተለያይተዋል።

Woldeamanuel Dubale Foundation(WaDF) Among the notable customs and values of Sidama nation, one can mention the rule of truth (Halaale), the government of the elders, dialogical and consensus based method of problem solving, and the fear of God (Magano). Apart from being liable to burden of excise tax and forced labor, Sidama people were obliged to abandon the long standing social, and political authority systems, which include woma, mote, and the luwa systems. The people through its leaders resisted  the inhuman actions and maltreatments of previous governments. During the Era of Menelik II and thereafter Sidama Compatriots fought against the regimes , in time and space, in an unorganized and organized manners.  As an organized resistance, Sidama Liberation Movement (SLM) waged an armed struggle, against the military regime for more than 10 years between 1978 -1990 and fully liberated 3 high land districts of Arbegona, Bensa and Aroressa in the South Eastern Sidama land fro
