  Addis Ababa  -  The surprising team of the year Sidama Coffee beat Sebeta City 2-0 in Yirgalem to share second place with Dedebit FC. Meanwhile   Ethiopian Coffee defeated Dedebit FC 2-1 here today to seat on top of the Ethiopian Premier League.  Ethiopian Coffee has now collected 55 points, followed by Dedebit FC (52 pts), Sidama Coffee (52 pts), St. George (51 pts) and Defence Force (49 pts).  However, the latter two have a game to play tomorrow. The Hawassa City Road & Transport Office is constructing a driving licence training centre with nine million Birr from the Southern Regional State Transport Bureau in Hawassa Town. The facility will be the third national training centre after those in Addis Abeba and Bahir Dar. The construction agreement between the city’s transport office and Eyob Mekebeb General Construction, which is to perform the construction, was signed on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Eyob Mekebeb General Construction was licensed by the region in May 2010 and has constructed health centres and schools for the regional government. Construction commenced on an 80ht plot that was contributed by the city administration lease free in Hawassa, located 275km from Addis Abeba, on Monday, June 6. S.Ethiopia Peoples' State, April 6, 2011 (Hawassa) - More than 173 million select coffee seedlings have been prepared for transplantation in South Ethiopia Peoples' State, the state agriculture bureau said. The bureau told ENA on Tuesday that 80 per cent of the stated number of seedlings are nurtured on farmers' plots. It said the seedlings will be transplanted on 24,000 hectares land. The number of the seedlings has increased by 60 million compared to that of last year, the bureau said. Various activities are underway to preserve organic coffee, the bureau said. Special attention is given to Specialty Coffee , which has great market demand, it said, adding, relevant training has been given to model farmers in Sidama and Gedeo Zones of the state in collaboration with the Jimma Agricultural Research Center.
