In November our friend and colleague  Erin Schneider  visited our partners in the FERRO Cooperative in Ethiopia’s Sidama Department. She was kind enough to document her experiences and insights for us. Below is a summary of her time at FERRO: The SNNPR (Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region) has fifty-two coffee cooperatives, that cover twelve district woredas (township-sized regions), representing 92,964 farmer members, of which 87,925 are male and 5,093 are female. These include both conventional and organic/fair trade certified coffee co-ops who sell to private market and for export. Among these is the larger SCFCU (Sidama Coffee Farmers Union) and within that the primary cooperative FERRO. SCFCU and FERRO have been partners with Just Coffee for five years now. Most farms are between 0.5 – 2 hectares (1 hectare is ~ 2 acres) with land that is co-owned by men and women, although the amount of land a farmer might own is allocated and regulated by the government.Ther

(ኤፍ.ቢ.ሲ) በኢኳቶሪያል ጊኒ አስተናጋጅነት የሚካሄደው 30ኛው የአፍሪካ ዋንጫ ከነገወዲያ ይጀመራል። 30ኛው የአፍሪካ ዋንጫ በመጪው ቅዳሜ በምዕራብ አፍሪካዋ አገር ኢኳቶሪያል ጊኒ እና በኮንጎ መካከል በሚደረገው የመክፈቻ ጨዋታ ይጀመራል። ከ35 ሺህ በላይ ተመልካቾችን የሚይዘው ባታ ስታዲዮም የመክፈቻ ጨዋታውን የሚያስተናድ ሲሆን፥ አዘጋጇኢኳቶሪያል ጊኒ ውድድሩን ማላቦ፣ ባታ፣ ሞንጎሞ እና ኢብየን በተባሉ ከተሞቿ ታዘጋጃለች።  የፊታችን ቅዳሜ በሚጀመረው የ2015ቱ የአፍሪካ ዋንጫ አስተናጋጇ ኢኳቶሪያል ጊኒ ከኮንጎ ስትፋለም፥ በዕለቱ ቡርኪና ፋሶ  ጋቦንን ትገጥማለች። በምድብ አንድ አስተናጋጇ ኢካቶሪያል ጊኒ፣ ቡርኪና ፋሶ፣ ጋቦን እና ኮንጎ የተደለደሉ ሲሆን፥ ከዚህ ምድብ ጎረቤታሞቹ ኢካቶሪያል ጊኒ እና ጋቦን እ.ኤ.አ በ2012 ውድድሩን አሰናድተው ሩብ ፍፃሜ ድረስ መጓዝ መቻላቸው ይታወሳል። እሁድ ከምድብ ሁለት ዛምቢያ ከኮንጎ ዲሞክራቲክ ሪፐብሊክ የሚጫወቱ ሲሆን፥ ቱኒዚያ በበኩሏ ከኬፕ ቨርዴ ጋር ጨዋታዋን ታደርጋለች። በምድብ ሁለት ዛምቢያ፣ ቱኒዚያ ኬፕ ቨርዴ እናኮንጎ ዲሞክራቲክ ሪፐብሊክ ሲመደቡ፥ አልጄሪያ የሞት ምድብ በተባለውና ጋና ፣ ደቡብ አፍሪካ እና ሴኔጋልን ባገናኘው  ምድብ ሶስት ውስጥ ተደልድላለች። በብራዚሉ የዓለም ዋንጫም ጠንካራ የተከላካይ ክፍል እንዳላት ያስመሰከረችው አልጄሪያ ከባድ በተባለው ምድብ ውስጥ መደልደሏ ትኩረትን ስቧል። በማጣሪያ ጨዋታዎችም በስተመጨረሻ በማሊ ከደረሰባቸው የ2 ለ 0 ሽንፈት በስተቀር ሁሉንም በድል የተወጡት የበራሃ ቀበሮዎቹ፥ በከባድ ምድብ ቢገኙም ከምድብ የማለፍ ቅድመ ግምትን ግን የነፈጋቸው አለ ለማለት አያስደፍርም። በመጨረሻው ምድብ አራት ላይም አይቮሪኮስት ፣ ማሊ ፣ ካሜሮን እ

Their noble works fostered the principle of tolerance to diverse ideas and acceptance of multiple religious beliefs to take center-stage in the development of society with which some rulers went along.
