የኢትዮጵያ ፌዴራላዊ ዲሞክራሲያዊ መድረክ (መድረክ) እና አባል ድርጅቶቹ የሲዳማ አርነት ንቅናቄ (ሲአን)፣ የኢትዮጵያ ማኅበረ ዲሞክራሲ ደቡብ ኅብረት አንድነት ፓርቲ (አማዲደህአፓ)፣ የኦሮሞ ፌዴራሊስት ኮንግረስ (ኦፌኮ) እና አረና ትግራይ ለዲሞክራሲና ሉዓላዊነት ፓርቲ (አረና) ጋር በደቡብ ክልል ዋና ከተማ ሐዋሳ ያካሄደው ሰላማዊ ሠልፍ በእንግልት መካሄዱን አስታወቀ፡፡  የአገሪቱን ወቅታዊ ሁኔታ አስመልክቶ ‹‹ሰላማዊና ዲሞክራሲያዊ ተቃውሞዎችን በኃይል ማፈን ይቁም›› በሚል ሰኔ 7 ቀን 2006 ዓ.ም. በሐዋሳ ከተማ ያካሄደው ሰላማዊ ሠልፍ በሰላም ቢጠናቀቅም፣ ገዥው ፓርቲ ሕዝቡ ወደ ሠልፍ እንዳይወጣ የተለያዩ ማነቆዎችን መፍጠሩን መድረክ ገልጿል፡፡ የፓርቲው ሕዝብ ግንኙነት ኃላፊ አቶ ጥላሁን እንደሻው፣ ‹‹ገዥው ፓርቲ አፈና ሲያደርግብን ነበር፡፡ ቅዳሜ ልናካሄድ ላሰብነው ሰላማዊ ሠልፍ የዕውቅና ደብዳቤ የሰጠን ሐሙስ 11 ሰዓት ላይ ነው፤›› በማለት ገዥው ፓርቲን የኮነኑ ሲሆን፣ ‹‹ቢሆንም ግን ሕዝቡ ይህን አፈና ተቋቁሞ በመውጣት የተሳካ ሠልፍ አካሂደናል፤›› ሲሉ ለሪፖርተር አስረድተዋል፡፡    ፓርቲው አገሪቱ ውስጥ ተፈጥረዋል ያላቸውን መሠረታዊ ችግሮች በዝርዝር ለሕዝብ ያቀረበ መሆኑን፣ በሕገ መንግሥቱ ተደንግገው ነገር ግን መፈጸም ያልተቻሉ ያላቸውን ዝርዝር ጉዳዮች እንዲሁ ለሕዝቡ ማቅረቡን ገልጿል፡፡  መሠረታዊ ችግሮች በሚል ፓርቲው በዝርዝር ካስቀመጣቸው ነጥቦች መካከል የሕዝቡ የሥልጣን ባለቤትነት እውን እንዳይሆንና የመድበለ ፓርቲ ዲሞክራሲ በትክክል ሥራ ላይ እንዳይውል የምርጫ ቦርድ ለኢሕአዴግ ወገንተኛ መሆኑን፣ በነፃነት በሰላማዊ መንገድ ለመንቀሳቀስ በሚፈልጉ ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎች ላይ ልዩ ልዩ የማቀጨጭ ሥልቶችን ተጠቅሞ ተፅዕኖዎችን
