በሃዋሳ ከተማ መሃል ፒያሳ ላይ ከሴቶች ጋር በተያያዘ በቅርቡ ኣንድ የውጭ ዜጋ በሞቱን ተከትሎ በከተማዋ የጸጥታ ቁጥጥሩ የተጠናከረ ሲሆን፤ በሙሉ ከተማዋ ፌደራል ፖሊስ በመኪኖች ታግዞ የጸጥታ ቁጥጥር ስራውን በመስራት ላይ ነው። በከተማዋ የተሰማራው የጸጥታ ኣስከባር ኃይል የከተማዋን ጸጥታ ማስከበር የቻለ ሲሆን ሪፖርተራችን ጥቻ ወራን ከተማዋን በመቃኘት ያላከልን መረጃ እንዳምያመለክተው የሃዋሳ ከተማ በኣሁኑ ጊዜ ሰላም የሰፈነባት ከተማ ሆናለች። የሃዋሳ ከተማ የመዝናኛ ከተማነት ባለፈው የቱርዝም ኮንፎራንስግ ማዕከልም እየሆነች በመምጣት ላይ ያለች ከተማ ስለሆነ በጸጥታ ጉዳይ ላይ የምመለከተው ኣካል መስራት ይጠበቅበታል። በተለይ የጫምባባላ እና የቅዱስ ገብረኤል ንግስና በዓላትን የመሳሰሉ እጅግ በርካታ ሰዎች የምሳተፉበትን በዓላት የምታስተናግድ ከተማ መሆኗ በጸጥታ ጉዳይ ላይ ልዩ ትኩረት እንድሰጥባት የግድ ይላል። በዚህ ሳምንት ላይ የምከበረውን የታህሳሳ የቅዱስ ገብረኤል ንግስና በዓል ላይ ለመገኘት በርካታ ቁጥር ያለው ህዝብ ወደ ከተማዋ የምመጣ በመሆኑ በጸጥታ ኣጠባበቅ ላይ ትኩረት መሰጠት ኣለበት። የከተማዋን ሰላም እና ጸጥታ በዘላቂነት ለማስከበር መንግስት ኣሁን እያደረጋ እንዳለው ችግሮች ከተከሰቱ በኃላ ላይ ብቻ የጸጥታ ኃይልን ከማሰማራት ዘላቂ የሆነ ጸጥታ የማስከበር ስራዎችን ብስራ መልካም ነው።

The theme.  I start my brief discussion by asking the Sidama readers what does national consciousness mean to you individually and how can the Sidama as a nation be an effective catalyst of the change that is dearly needed? So much so that election season in the country is now associated with anxiety of instability on one hand, and revival of political discourse on the other. Most political parties start to come out of their shell during this time, becoming more vocal on issues of political significance. The next election is scheduled to take place in May 2015, and the usual heightened mood seems to be picking up pace slowly, with efforts to awaken voters already beginning. One example to this effect is a call last week by Merera Gudina (Ph.D.), current chairman of Medrek, the Ethiopian Democratic Unity Forum, for the ruling party to sit down and negotiate on how to go about the upcoming national election.
