ወጣቱን በማብቃት ላይ መሠራት አለበት

የኢትዮጵያ የሕዝብ ብዛት ከ85 ሚሊዮን በላይ መሆኑን መረጃዎች ያመለክታሉ፡፡ አገሪቱ ካላት የሕዝብ ብዛት ውስጥ ከሁለት ሦስተኛ በላዩ ወጣቶች ናቸው፡፡ ይህ በሚገባ የሚሠራበት ከሆነ እጅግ መልካም አጋጣሚ መሆኑ አያጠራጥርም፡፡ ምክንያቱም ወጣቶች የማኅበረሰቡ የጀርባ አጥንት መሆናቸውን በማስመስከራቸው ነው፡፡  ኢትዮጵያ እንደ አገር ይህንን የወጣት ኅብረተሰብ ፍሬያማ በማድረግ ልታተርፍበት ትችላለች፡፡ መንግሥት ይህንን በመገንዘብ የወጣቶች ፖሊሲ ቀርፆ እየተንቀሳቀሰ ይገኛል፡፡ ሆኖም ግን መንግሥት የአገሪቱን ወጣቶች አቅም በሚገባ አደራጅቶ እየተጠቀመበት ነው ለማለት ያስቸግራል፡፡ ስለዚህ መንግሥት ይህን ግዙፍና ጠንካራ የሆነ የኅብረተሰብ አካል እንዴት ሊጠቀምበት እንደሚችል ማሰብ ይገባዋል፡፡  እንደ አሜሪካ ባሉ የዓለማችን ኃያላን አገሮች ወጣቶች ያላቸው ተፅዕኖ ምን ያህል ከፍተኛ እንደሆነ ይታወቃል፡፡ ለአብነት እንኳን በዓለማችን በሰፊው የሚታወቀው የፌስቡክ ማኅበረሰብ ድረ ገጽ መሥራችና ባለቤት ወጣት አሜሪካዊ ነው፡፡ የ29 ዓመቱ ማርክ ዘከርበርግ በፌስቡክ ድረ ገጽ በኩል ከአንድ ቢሊዮን በላይ ተጠቃሚዎችን ማፍራት ችሏል፡፡ በዚህም ከአሜሪካ አልፎ በዓለማችን ላይ ተፅዕኖ ፈጣሪ ግለሰብ አድርጐታል፡፡ እዚህ ላይ ልብ ሊባል የሚገባው ነገር ለዚህ ወጣት ጉዞ መሳካት በርካቶች እጃቸው አለበት፡፡ ለአብነት የፌስቡክን ባለቤት አነሳን እንጂ በአሜሪካ ለአገርም ሆነ ለሕዝባቸው ኩራት የሆኑ በርካታ ወጣቶች ይገኛሉ፡፡ እነዚህ ወጣቶች ከአገራቸው አልፈው በዓለማችን ላይ እንደዚህ ተፅዕኖ ፈጣሪ እንዲሆኑ ያስቻላቸው ዓቢይ ጉዳይ ደግሞ፣ ለወጣቶች ምቹ የሆነ ፖለሲ በአገራቸው በመኖሩ ነው፡፡ ታዲያ እኛም እንደ አገር ከዚህ ልንማር የምንች

Hawassa University won Grants from NORHED

Hawassa University has won grants for four grand projects proposed by its different academic units some in partnership with foreign and local universities. Two projects from the Main Campus and two others from the College of Agriculture have secured funding from NORHED/NORAD for staff capacity building (Masters and PhD), collaborative research and training. The two projects at the Main Campus are one from College of Social Science & Humanities- School of Language & Communication Study and the other is from College of Law & Governance from Governance & Development Studies. The two projects are entitled “ Linguistic Capacity Building – Tools for the inclusive development of Ethiopia ” and   ‘ Institutional Cooperation for Capacity Building of Universities and Local Authorities for Democratic and Economic Governance in South Sudan and Ethiopia (ICBULGOV)’   respectively. Queen Furra I got an e-mail last night from one of my regular readers, Yaya, telling me my last post on Queen Furra got her curisoity going and asked me if I knew any material written about her and could direct her to it.I looked up in Encyclopadia Aethiopica (Harrasssowitz Verlag, 2005) and I found a half page entry written by a certain Anbessa Teferra.Here it is. The orgin of Furra, the legendary queen of the Sidama, is not clear.According to Gasparini, she was the wife of Ahmad b.Ibrahaim al-Gazi (Gragn, known as Diingamo Koyya among the Sidama).Others claim that Furra’s father was an honourable clan leader during the 14th or 15th cent. and when he passed away, she was made queen because she was the eldest daughter. To all Oromos and Friends of Oromo! A human rights advocacy group, composed of oppressed peoples, have organized a conference on the current state of human rights situation in the worst hit regions in Ethiopia (Oromia, Ogaden, Somali, Sidama Shakacho, Anyuak and Benishangul States).
