EEPCo to Pay Compensation for Hawassa Power Surges

The Hawassa branch of the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) is to pay compensation to close to 300 households and a private company, Awassa Greenwood Plc, for damages related to sudden power surges, two weeks ago. Awassa Greenwood Plc, a flower grower and exporter located on the outskirts of Hawassa town, 273Km south of Addis Abeba, has stopped work because of damages to its offices and facilities that resulted in a fire following the surge. “We have checked the damages and confirmed that the charges were filed within 24 hours of the damages,” said Zeleke Kebede, Public Communication Desk head of EEPCo’s branch office. “We only pay compensation to residents with title deeds.” “The fire spread at Greenwood because they use metal sheets for fences,” he added. Residents of rented houses in the town are also demanding compensation; however, there are fears that they may be excluded because they do not have any title deeds for the places they reside in. “We should b

ታላቁ ሩጫ በኢትዮጵያና ሴቭ ዘችልድረን አዘጋጅነት በሐዋሳ በተደረገው ግማሽ ማራቶን ውድድር፣ ታምራት ቶላ የቦታውን ክብረ ወሰን በማሻሻል አሸንፏል፡፡ በሴቶች በተደረገው ውድድርም ጽጌረዳ ግርማ በተመሳሳይ ክብረ ወሰኑን በማሻሻል ባለድል ሆናለች፡፡  “የሕፃናትንና እናቶችን ሞት ለመቀነስ” በሚል መሪ ቃል ባለፈው እሑድ በሐዋሳ በተደረገው ግማሽ ማራቶን ሩጫ የውድድሩ አሸናፊ ታምራት ርቀቱን ለማጠናቀቅ የወሰደበት ጊዜ 1 ሰዓት፣ 02 ደቂቃ 44 ሰከንድ መሆኑ ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ የቦታውን ክብረ ወሰን በአንድ ደቂቃ አሻሽሎ መሆኑም ታውቋል፡፡ እሱን ተከትሎ ሁለተኛ ሆኖ ያጠናቀቀው ሐብታሙ አሰፋ 1 ሰዓት 03 ደቂቃ 12 ሰከንድ ራሱ አምና ከተመዘገበው ሰዓት 26 ሰከንድ የተሻሻለ ሰዓት ስለመሆኑም ተነግሯል፡፡ ሦስተኛ የወጣው አስቻለው ንጉሤ በበኩሉ፣ ርቀቱን ለማጠናቀቅ 1 ሰዓት 03 ደቂቃ 20 ሰከንድ ሲሆን፣ ይህም ለአትሌቱ ፈጣን ሰዓት ተብሎለታል፡፡  በሴቶች በተደረገው ተመሳሳይ ውድድር አሸናፊዋ ጽጌረዳ ግርማ የገባችበት ሰዓት 1 ሰዓት 13 ደቂቃ 19 ሰከንድ ከአምናው በ12 ሰከንድ ተሻሽሎ የተመዘገበ መሆኑም ተመልክቷል፡፡  ውድድሩን ሁለተኛና ሦስተኛ በመሆን ያጠናቀቁት ጫልቱ ጣፋ 1 ሰዓት 14 ደቂቃ፣ 01 ሰከንድ፣ ቀነኒ አሰፋ ደግሞ 1 ሰዓት፣ 14 ደቂቃ 04 ሰከንድ መሆኑም ታውቋል፡፡  ለታላላቅ አትሌቶች መገኛ መሆኑ የሚነገርለት ታላቁ ሩጫ በኢትዮጵያ፣ በሐዋሳ ከተማ በተደረገው ውድድር አትሌቶች ያስመዘገቡት ሰዓት በዓለም አቀፉ አትሌቲክስ ፌዴሬሽኖች ማኅበር (አይኤኤኤፍ) ዕውቅና ካላቸው የውድድር ቦታዎች አንዱ ስለመሆኑ ጭምር ዝግጅት ክፍሉ አስታውቋል፡፡ http://www.ethiopianreporter.com/index.php/sport/item/183

The growing concern with climate  change presents additional challenges and opportunities to these countries. The paper  explores development possibilities/challenges in the age of climate change on the basis of  selected review of the literature on mainstreaming climate change to development. Sidama Community UK is to Honour its Fallen Heroes!

  Commemorating the 11th anniversary of Sidama Victims of Atrocity on May 25, 2013 in London at ‘GHARWEG’ Training Centre, 5 Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7XW The Sidama Community ‘UK’ will Honour about 115 Courageous, Determined and Law-abiding Sidama Men, Women and Children who have been Cold Bloodedly massacred by the current ruthless  TPLF/EPRDF’s regime in Loqqe village at the outskirt of Sidama capital -Hawassa on May 24, 2002 whilst peacefully demonstrating demanding their Constitutional rights to regional self determination- the quest which the Sidama nation is unlawfully and blatantly denied to this date.
