EEPCO hosts Adama & St. George faces Sidama Coffee in Week 12

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Current Ethiopia Premier League leader EEPCO will host 6 th place Adama City here, while St. George travels south to face Sidama Coffee as Week 12 competition gets underway on Sunday. In other matches, Defence Force will take on Mugher Cement; last placed Arba Minch City will accommodate Hawassa City and Dedebit FC travels east to meet Dire Dawa City. The league will continue on Monday with another double header featuring Ethiopian Coffee vs Ethiopian Air Force and CBE taking on Harar Brewery. ETBU Students take mission trip to Bona,Sidama

“Eye opening,” is the sentiment of 12 East Texas Baptist University students who experienced a 10-day mission trip to Ethiopia during the Christmas break. The journey from campus to Bona, a small village in southern Ethiopia, was the first ETBU student trip to the area. The final leg of the journey to arrive in Bona was a five-hour bus trip, with the last four traveled on a very bumpy, dirt road. The ministry trip had more than 90 hours of travel. ETBU Assistant Professor of Religion Elijah Brown, along with his wife, Amy, accompanied the team of students to Ethiopia. Brown said it is difficult to put into words the different lifestyles that one finds in the various places of the world. “On the Sunday the students were in Bona, they visited a family that lives in a small one- room hut,” Brown said. “There was very little separation between the parents and the six children. Ethiopia sells swathes of land to foreigners

Ethiopia has allocated 5 130 hectares of land to foreign investors interested in industrial zones and aims to generate over $500 million in revenue. 776 hectares of land in Hawassa is to be sold. The industrial zones are located in various parts of the Horn of Africa country including Dire Dawa city, Amhara, Southern and Somali regional states. Chinese and Turkish investors  have shown interest in establishing industrial zones in the country by investing over $1 billion. About 700 hectares of the land is in the Borena area of Dire Dawa while 350 hectares is located in Shinele area of the Somali regional state. Another 1 123 hectares is targeted for industrial use in Kombolcha city in the Amhara regional state while Hawassa was allocated 776 hectares, Addis Ababa (436 hectares) and Bole Lemi and Akaki Kality with 243 respectively. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia  – Hawassa City stole three valuable points from Defence Force with a 1-0 victory here today. The lone goal of the match was scored by Hawassa’s defender Girma. Hawassa has now joined five other teams who have 10 points each. However some teams have played more matches than others. Defence Force, which had a great season last year, is currently struggling with just 1 win in 6 matches, and occupies 11th place. EEPCO currently tops the league with 15 points followed by Adama City (13 points) and Ethiopian Coffee (12 points) in second and third respectively.
