While the Sidama celebrated their New Year in the rural areas some of them travelled to Hawassa to join their relatives in the town. The unique traditional dressing style of those from the country, as they danced in groups along the main roads, was a breath-taking spectacle. Old men wielding spears and shields performed war dances while riders brought their country-traversing horses to the town and did a show of fine horsemanship.     The Sidama have their own unique calendar in which a week has five days and a month twenty-eight days. Each of the twenty-eight days has its own name. And a year is thirteen months long. However, their New Year does not fall on the same day every year. Yirgalem- Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) defending champions St. George will face Sidama Coffee here tomorrow as one the matches it has in hand. St. George and Dedebit FC had a number of their matches postponed during the CECAFA Challenge Cup as both teams had 5 players each with the national squad. League officials have earlier this month temporarily suspended the championship so that the two sides can catch up with the rest of the league teams. Meanwhile Dedebit FC beat Sebeta City 3-2 in Addis Ababa yesterday. By Nate This week I have ventured into the world of more formal ‘cupping’  this is the  Image from sidacoop.com process in which coffee is tasted at it’s most raw state.  The beans are ground, placed into a bowl, and hot water is poured directly onto the ground coffee.  This allows for the true flavors to shine through, without a particular brewing method influencing the taste.  I am not a formally trained ‘cupper’, but I figured I’d give it a shot, especially seeing as I received 3 varieties of coffee from the same geographical area.  I chose to do this cupping blind, by writing the name of the coffee on the bottom of the cups.  This way, I wouldn’t be swayed by any other factor than the taste of the coffee.  I’m pleased to report that all three of the coffees that I cupped were excellent, and each had unique taste profiles.  It is quite something to taste them side by side, it accentuates the variation in flavor. አዲስ አበባ፣ ታህሳስ 12 2003 ( ሬዲዮ ፋና ) የሀዋሳ ከተማን የመጠጥ ዉሃ እጥረት ለማቃለል በ20ሚሊዮን ብር  እየተካሄደ  ያለው የማስፋፊያ ፕሮጀክት ከ90 በመቶ በላይ መጠናቀቁን የከተማዋ አስተዳደር አስታወቀ ። ችግሩን በዘላቂነት ለመፍታት የሚያስችል የጥልቅ መጠጥ ዉሃ ግንባታ ለማከናወን የሚያስችል ጥናት መጠናቀቁም ተገልጧል ። የከተማዋ ከንቲባ አቶ ሽብቁ ማጋኔና ሌሎች የካቢኔ አባላት በወንዶ ገነት አካባቢ የሚገኘዉን የመጠጥ ዉሃ ማስፋፊያ ግንባታ ተዘዋዉረዉ ጎብኝተዋል ። ከንቲባዉ በዚሁ ጊዜ እንደተናገሩት በሃዋሳ ከተማ የኢንቨስትመንት መስፋፋትን ተከትሎ  በከፍተኛ ደረጃ እያደገ የመጣዉን የመጠጥ ዉሃ ፍላጎት ለማርካት የተለያዩ ስራዎች በመከናወን ላይ ናቸዉ ። ችግሩን ለማቃለል ከአለም ባንክ በተገኘ 16 ሚሊዮን ብር እና የከተማ አስተዳደር በመደበዉ  የአራት ሚሊዮን ብር ወጪ የመጠጥ ዉሃ ፕሮጀክት ስራ ከ90 በመቶ በላይ መከናወኑን አስረድተዋል። ለከተማዋ ዘላቂ መፍትሄ ለማስገኘት ሃዌላ ወንዶና ጋራ ሊቀታ በተባሉ ስፍራዎች በሰከንድ ከ200 እስከ 300 ሊትር ዉሃ መስጠት የሚያስችሉ የሁለት ጥልቅ የዉሃ ጉድጓደችን ቆፋሮ ለማካሄድ  የሚያስችል ጥናት መጠናቀቁን ገልጠዋል ። በጥናቱ መሰረት ፕሮጀክቱ ለሃያ አመታት ለከተማዋ አስተማማኝ የመጠጥ ዉሀ ለማቅረብ የሚያስችል መሆኑም ተገልጧል ። የሃዋሳ ከተማ ዉሃና ፍሳሽ አገልግሎት ድርጅት ስራ አስኪያጅ አቶ ለጣ የታሞ በበኩላቸዉ  በወንዶ ገነት አካባቢ በመገንባት ላይ ያለዉ የአምቦ የመጠጥ ዉሃ ፕሮጀክት በቅርቡ አገልግሎት  መስጠት ሲጀምር በሰከንድ 55 ሊትር ማምረት እንደሚቻል ተናግረዋል። የፕሮጀክቱ አማካሪ መሃንዲስ አቶ ታከለ ፍሰሃ በበኩላቸዉ በአሁኑ ወቅት የዋናዉ ምንጭ የማጎልበት  ስራና የ1
