Hawassa University has launched its brand new software to strengthen teaching learning process.

Hawassa University has launched its brand new software called Student Information System to strengthen teaching learning process.
The software is mainly designed and developed by the ICT Directorate Staffs of the university. It has two kinds of version to satisfy the user requirements. These are the desktop application and web based system. The software was developed for the Registrar and Alumni Directorate and other teachers/ lecturers and students to process and manipulate the student records in short period of time that helps to strengthen the teaching learning process.
In general terms this software is a desktop and web-based application that helps to manage the student information commonly called registrar system. It helps different sectors of the university to manage the student information throughout the university (i.e. in different campuses and colleges the university has) .It has four basic modules that are classified to make it flexible and easy to manage. These modules are Admission module, Grade Module, Configuration Module and Student Module, Reports module and Help and Support Modules. Its basic uses are admission of different types of admission that the university is admitting on, the grade submission of the teacher though students online portal, printing different kind of reports as needed like the ad-hoc reports and regular reports such as the registration slip ,grade report, student list, student copy , student placement for the dormitory and many more.
In addition to this the system has auto update functionality which helps to fix bugs and repair as the error occurs and the update is required. Therefore system has the following additional features:

To sum up the system is expected to increase the efficiency of the college’s record management, decrease time required to access and deliver student records, decrease data duplication, increase data integrity, increase user access and convenience, decrease time spent on non-value added tasks and increase ability of staff to better serve the student population.
Developers of the system are Simon Tiruneh, Getachew Kumara, Dessalegn Mengesha and Samuel Tesfaye.
