Berhane back, Sidama needs coach

With less than a month before the new season’s kick-off, Sidama Coffee does not have a coach. Three coaches are said to be on the short list  at Sidama Cofee. After finishing 8th last season, former head coach Zelalem Shiferaw left Sidama Coffee to join National League side Sebeta Town. Now while many teams have already started practicing Sidama must still find a coach.

Meanwhile, Berhane Gebregzabher is back in the picture as head coach of Ethiopian Water Sport club after years of absence from the Ethiopian Premier League The former Rental Houses, Insurance and Ethiopian Coffee clubs’ head coach Berhane G/Egziabher had been out in the woods for years going down to National League sides notably Burayu town and Chefe Donsa. Following Mekonen’s walk out from the club newly promoted to the upper tier Water Sport was looking for an ideal replacement they could afford.

Thus, Berhane landed the job to everyone’s surprise. Known for relying on finesse rather than strength, Berhane’s priority with Water Sport is to build a side strong enough to stay at the Premier League in its debut season. Sources said the new head coach has already started negotiating with some players despite rumors of financial constraints. The former coach who helped promote Water Works, Mekonen joined Dashen Brewery FC for a lavish signing fee.
