HwU’s department of Informatics in collaboration with Google
HwU’s department of Informatics in collaboration with Google Company has started capacity building project on computer technology for teachers and students selected from governmental and non-governmental schools around Hawassa.
Mr.Tesfaye Baye, lecturer at informatics department and the project coordinator noted that the main objective of the training is enhancing teachers’ and students’ computer skills at the lower level mainly at high& preparatory schools there by making them beneficiaries of modern computer technologies.
In the training, that lasts for a year (2012/13 academic year), it is intended to involve more than 500 teachers and students. On top of that, it was noted Google Company has donated 10,000 US dollars to successfully run the project.
It was also noted that the university has won this project of Google Company competing with other strong East African Universities.
