Another Meles Zenawi’s agent ‘Tsegaye Berhe’ sent to terrorize Sidama people is in Hawassa

Mele’s regime cadres are doing what it takes to intimidate and coerce Sidama

people to oblige them to abandon their quests for regional self administration that

was accorded to the nations whose populations are 15 times smaller than theirs.

Unrepentant of its crimes for breaking its constitution, Meles’s regime cadres are

working day and night to stifle Sidama people’s quest for the said rights.

We have been updating the Sidama people, Ethiopians and the global

communities about the whole sagas surrounding this issue since the regime

introduced its Manifesto on Federalizing the Sidama capital town ‘Hawassa since

the 4th of June 2012; the action that angered Sidama people from corner to

corner. Since then, the Sidama people are legally & peacefully demanding their

rights whilst the regimes’ cadres are leaving no stone unturned to stifle these

rights. But the Sidama people are determined not to give in to these and give up

their claims.

From federal to regional cadres involving Sidama Zone renegades and districts

are adopting vicious techniques of systematic intimidation, imprisonment,

physical and psychological abuse using their federal force’s assassins who are

roaming on the streets and villages of 19 Sidama districts including Hawassa

town where their head quarters’ was stationed; from where they order their

contingency army and police forces whose sole duty is massacring innocent and

law abiding civilians who’re simply demanding nothing other than their

constitutional rights.

Few weeks ago federal high officials who went to Sidama for this particular purse

ordered the regional puppet president to use his power whilst implementing

regime’s polices even if it involves the massacre of up to 6000 Sidamas. To affect

the said order, the regime increased the numbers of Federal policies and security

agent’s by twofold. The level, depth and magnitude of the terror the Sidama

people are subjected is indescribable. The build up is a part of their attempt in

imposing Federalization of Hawassa town regardless of Sidama people’s fierce

resistance. Despite these all intimidations, tortures, arrests and all forms of brutal

treatments the Sidama people as a whole subjected to, the Sidamas are prepared

to pay what it takes demanding their rights.

As a part of regime's malicious behaviors towards the Sidama people, Tsegaye

Berhe (former Tigray regional state president) is in Hawassa working very hard to

use several millions of dollars that was allocated from the federal regime to bribe

Sidama people if they can. For the last three to four days, Tsegaye Berhe is in

Hawassa engaged in the said illegal and immoral activities with the regional and

Zone pariahs. To affect the said plans the cadres are calling Sidama farmers

associations from most districts. When the invited Sidama farmers associations’

participants arrive, the cadres separate chair persons and secretly advise them to

influence Sidama peoples in their respective association for the prices of about

~£900 (25.000 ETB), the offer which out rightly rejected by the entire Sidamas of

all districts.

Tsegaye Berhe is also attempting to bribe SLM (Sidama Liberation Movement)

members and its leadership. However, he received nothing other than public

outrage. Besides, it has been learnt that he is still trying his best and the Sidama

people are strongly advised to be extra cautious. Sidama people also discovered

that Tsegaye is using some tactical approach that is aimed at neutralizing Sidama

people’s reactions to the regime’s Manifesto and regional claims. To do so he

further emphasized saying - for TPLF/EPRDF rather than losing Sidama people, it

would be better if the Sidama people get their regional self administrations and

be part of EPRDF/TPLF. This is simple nonsense and rhetoric used by the said

authoritarian regime’s agent to silence the strong movement Sidama is making

whose actions is shaking the foundations of the regime in the south. Sidama

people strongly advise their wider society not to fall into the regime’s maliciously

set up trap; further urge them to say no to such tactics whilst pursuing with their

regional quest until they assert it.

Sidama Nation Online believes that the regime must respect its constitution

rather than stifling the rights of its citizen from exercising their rights freely and

democratically. The international community, Ethiopians and others democracy

loving civic and political organizations must condemn the acts of the regime &

demand Ethiopian regime to grant Sidama people their constitutional rights

without causing further sufferings to the people.
